The Second Annual District 227 Parenting in the Twenty-First Century Conference on August 17, 2013 The second annual Parenting in the Twenty First Century Conference will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Matteson Holiday Inn, 500 Holiday Plaza Drive in Matteson, Il. 60443. The conference will extend from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. It is free and open to all parents in Rich Township High School Districts 227, and all parents of seventh and eighth graders in Districts 159, 160, 162, and 163. School Board's Role in Continuous Improvement 1. Good Student Assessment Programs should have three elements. It is blameless. Data isn't used to punish principals, teachers, or students. Rather, it is used to assess areas of need and direct resources to those needs. In trying to remove the threat of the data we have asked, "How do we make this better?" 2. It is accurate, measurable, and immediately available. In District 227 administrators, teachers, students, and parents should be able to log into the data system from their home computers. 3. District 227's leadership must believe in it. Participation isn't optional. "Given the same conditions, we will have the same results,"Said Einstein. To move forward, to save our schools and community, Continuous Improvement and Assessment must be standard operating procedure across District 227. District 227 Administration can make it clear that "If you are going to work here, you have to buy into the program that will move our school district from tragedy and defeat of the past to a new renaissance of learning and school effectiveness in the future.
