I read your column with dismay. If you want to know what is going on in District 227, attend a school board meeting, or watch it on line. Go to http://www.rich227.org/ and under Board of Education go to Video. I don't know how Mayor Ostenberg is so ill-informed, but there is absolutely no plan to close any schools in District 227. On the contrary, the Board plans to encourage students in the district who have chosen to pay tuition and attend other high schools, to return to the Rich District! At a School Board meeting last week, Mark Kramer spoke about implementing the "manufacturing-oriented curriculum;" he stated that he had been working on it for quite a while, but had made a lot of headway in the last three weeks. Since the election of a new Board majority, a lot of changes are taking place. They are working on maintaining the music program at Rich East and improving the instrument situation. I'm not sure who gains anything by telling the people of Park Forest that Rich East is going to close, but it is a cruel and cynical misrepresentation
