When schools fails, communities also fail. Look at Lincoln Highway. When businesses leave, the taxes the business paid have to be transferred to homeowners. Why do you think standard and substantial businesses are leaving our Village? Go to Orland, to Tinley Park, and Frankfort, there are thriving nationally known businesses. Why? What are the schools in those areas: Lincolnway: outranked the state and the nation in SAT score averages for the past 5 years, conversely, what's happened in 227 for the past 5 years? Tinley Park High School: 52% meet PSAE standards, Andrews High School: 67% and Sandburg: 65% meet PSAE standards as opposed to some 34% of Rich Township District 227. Our children can learn. The children of those areas are no more intelligent than ours. Then, why is there such a discrepancy? You know the answer. The answer is a failed school system presided over by failed people whose first priority is not our children. Their interests seem to lie in bricks and mortar. A perfect example is the White Elephant Administrative building sitting vacant after business hours on Cicero. Drive past during non school hours to see for yourself what a waste of tax dollars this is! The address is 20550 South Cicero, Matteson. Helen Burleson A quote from the Southtown Star: "School districts in the southeast suburbs, heavily dependent on property tax revenue and comparatively property poor, have been especially hard hit. Perhaps no district faces greater fiscal challenges than Rich Township High School District 227, which delivered some more bad news to students and parents recently - 48 teachers and 33 support staff will be laid off on top of previous cutbacks, including one fewer daily class period next school year."

The Citizens for Successful Schools Report CCS shares continual and substantial information, regarding the unacceptable failures of the elected public servants. They are not only destroying our community but the futures for our children.
