Dr. Sharon Cooper Saturday, October 6, 2012 11:55 AM ..October 5, 2012 Mr. Broyls: Thanks for the information from the Public Access Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General's Office who has responded to our Request for Review concerning the Rich Township High School District 227 Board of Education. We are happy to hear that the Illinois Attorney General's Office has determined that further inquiry is warranted with regard to this matter in the form of a written response in that the 227 school board is not run in the manner of equal justice under the law with regards to integrity, transparency, and our community and targeted board members rights as citizens of Illinois and of the United States. We also sincerely hope that other district 227 tax payers would join us in the form of a written response to the Illinois Attorney General's Offtice within seven days to the allegations that this board with its chair, denies both the full board and district 227 community its parliamentary and constitutional rights to equal participation, justice, due process, First Amendment Rights, protection, transparency, and accountability of government bodies. Our written response with further questions, or a message outlining your district 227 board experience can be left online addressing our experiences for SARAH GADOLA GALLAGHER, through Email at sgallagher@att.state.il.us, Assistant Attorney General, Public Access Bureau at (312) 793-0865 or by contacting an FOIA staff member at 1877-299-3642. Call and or email and state your case in writing addressing your experiences with school board 227 and direct it to SARAH GOLDA GALLAGHER, Assistant Illinois Attorney General, at the Illinois Attorney General's Office. It is always great to have correspondence in writing if you can but call in if you must. We would like to see community participants make sure that we as involved individuals speak to the Illinois Attorney General's Office in writing and to inform them that you are residents and citizens of RICH TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 227 who are concerned about the future of our children and community and wish to end our long night of suppression, darkness, and captivity where the rights of our community and targeted citizens are unprotected. Enclosed is an attachment of a letter that was sent to Betty Owens, Board Chair, in November of last school year outlining reasons for our plight and inability to move forward in the absence of full board and community participation, communication, and clarity, as both targeted board members and our community's participation efforts continue to be blocked by the school board chair at open board meetings. If everyone on the school board learned the basics of parliamentary procedure, which includes promoting courtesy, caring about our children and community, listening, justice, impartiality, and equality among board members, beginning with the chair, we could have unity and productive meetings. To respond properly to the Illinois Attorney Generals request and to prove our case, we believe that it is important that the Illinois Attorney General has a copy of your letters of explanation. Remember also that minority board members have fought to have our board meeting online where you can view what happened in any month at a particular board meeting. Board meetings also can be accessed on a video disc through a Freedom of Information Act Request for the last three years now. To view board meetings for the most recent month online, go to Rich 227. Then click on the drop down tablet that says "Board of Education." Then take your cursor to the bottom of the tablet and click on "Board Meeting Video" to see end of last school board meeting online. But based upon our abusive episodes we have witnessed, lack of ethics, corruption and efforts at clogging the lines of communication to keep the community in the dark, misinformed, and uninformed that we have experienced, both as a community and as minority board members, this may not be possible until the school board election of April 9, 2013....Thanks for all you do.
