The Rich Township High Schools Coalition for Better Schools encourages all district parents to attend the Parenting in the 21st Century Conference. The Conference is FREE! Open to All District 227 Parents and Parents of Students Attending Districts 159, 160, 162 and 163 Rich Township High School District 227 is presenting its inaugural Parenting in the 21st Century Conference to all parents who will have students who will attend or are currently attending district schools. This event will be held at the Matteson Holiday Inn  Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm. Supporting qualified candidates for office   2. A Rich Township Coalition membership drive   3. Accessing voter registrars for a voter registration drive   4. Reviewing the process of completing the candidate forms so that no highly qualified individual will be thrown off the ballot by those who have proved unqualified to serve, and   5. Quick Link   richthscoalition.org August 7, 2012 Issue No. 1018 News and Events MILE Designated School Board Member Trainer Effective schools are successful because of a combination of factors that encompass every aspect of the education provided to students. Effective school leadership is one important element. The State of Illinois, in recognition of this factor, recently established the requirement that all school board members receive training in the various aspects of their positions as district leaders and decision makers. The Metropolitan Institute of Higher Education, (MILE), at GSU was recently designated as a certified training entity for school board member and will begin conducting leadership training workshops in the fall. In a recent letter to MILE Director Alicia McCray, State Superintendent of Education Christopher A. Koch wrote "...you are highly qualified and meet/exceed the application requirement to train school board members." In its capacity as a designated trainer, MILE will lead workshops for school board members on leadership skills, which include fiduciary, ethics, and governance responsibilities. "MILE has offered programs for school board members since its founding in 2006. We are delighted that we have been recognized with this certification and feel uniquely qualified to provide this service," said McCray.
